Simmons Refco 14.5 Ounce Silver Ingot
Located in Chicago, Simmons Refco is known for this unique size of bar, 14.5 oz is not a common size to find. Production began in the 1960’s through the 1970’s. This particular example is special because of the square mold and multiple struck serial. According to All Engelhard’s Simmons Refining page, this variety is an estimated 50 mintage and was produced as a presentation piece. The multiple struck serial was an error from the rotary die stamp. It is expected that very few survive.
