51.10 oz Robert R Johnson San Francisco Ingot, West Coast Refining (late 70’s-early 80’s)

The Robert R Johnson Coin & Stamp Company is a long time San Francisco coin shop that was established in 1954. This ingot was produced by West Coast Refining of Napa California in the late 70’s to early 80’s. WCR is a popular small refinery that did not produce many ingots, in any size, and in fact, the 50 & 100 oz class ingots are the two lowest mintage varieties. Considering that there are no known “blank” 50 oz class ingots from WCR, we believe this bar was produced at the WCR facility and sent to Robert Johnson. The hallmark is double struck, which adds a neat aesthetic appeal. Overall, each stamp is struck very deep. According to All Engelhard this ingot is a mintage of <25 ESTIMATE
