Auction Description:

A CHOICE AU Type 1 double eagle struck just before the outbreak of the Civil War. Warm and attractive olive gold surfaces show just light friction from circulation and some related contact marks. Accents of surviving mint brilliance clings to the protected areas. None of the contact marks are distracting from the wonderful originality of the surfaces, nor impacting on the visual quality.



PCGS 151, NGC 211, CAC 36. The most recent PCGS AU55 CAC sold in auction a decade ago, realizing nearly $5,000.
